Dr. Tyler Tolles
Percussion Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Tyler N. Tolles (b.1990) is an active percussion performer, composer, and educator based in the Washington D.C. area. In addition to teaching vibraphone at the University of North Alabama, he holds a full time position serving as Percussionist with the United States Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD.
Dr. Tolles earned his Doctor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from The Florida State University where he also received both a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance and Jazz Studies under the tutelage of Dr. John W. Parks IV. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas and maintains an active membership in the Percussive Arts Society and its committees.
Dr. Tolles’ primary mentors/influences include: Christopher Deane, Mark Ford, Dr. Robert Schietroma, Ed Smith, Leon Anderson, Nick Finzer, Jake Nissly and Dr. John W. Parks IV.
